Hi. My name is Benjamin Murphy and it is great to meet you. I was born in 1980 to a young married couple; my father was in the US Navy and my mom worked hard to keep the house running while he was away at sea or just at the base. I've lived in three corners of the US, Connecticut, Washington State, and presently Central Florida.

I have two siblings, a younger sister and brother, and we've always had a house full of pets. I grew up playing in the woods and always had a fondness for the natural and wild. I'll admit, I spent a fair amount of time in front of a NES and TV, but when my eyes burn from too much electronic entertainment, I find myself drawn outdoors and into the forests of my memory and youth.

I'm involved in a wonderful relationship with a loving woman; someone who makes me laugh and dream, someone who teaches me without realizing it, and who makes my blood run with passion (and often loving aggrevation!). I hope to spend the rest of my life with her.

So What's up with this website? Well, I'm a writer. I'm near the completion of what I hope will be my first published novel. It's a children's fantasy book, along the lines of Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, or the Spiderwick Chronicals. As soon as I have the final draft finished and have set up protection for myself, I will post sample chapters and other curious things here.
